About

Our story

The origins of Brigand Press go back to 2018 and discussions at meetings of the Somers Town Writers Group on the state of contemporary publishing and its incredibly narrow focus, and the palpable preferences of agents and publishing houses that do not necessarily encourage or reward all talented writers. Members communicated their views to Scott Pearce, who has wide experience in printing and digital publishing. Subsequently discussions were initiated about the tentative concept of a micro-publisher that some of the group had heard of. Impressed by the group's work, and following further talks, Scott was inspired by the writers group to act on this suggestion, and thus Brigand was born. Having published twelve books in its first year of existence, Brigand intends to further expand its range in 2020, adding new voices by publishing the work of both existing Brigand authors and that of various additional new and exciting writers. The press will be open for open submissions at some point in the near future in Spring 2020. For both, watch this space!
