Featured Books

Blade Warriors - Kingsley Poole
£10.99

The third novel in a thrilling trilogy. In 1936, a stroke of good fortune gains Ed Hunston entry into the hallowed cloisters of Oxford, where he befriends fellow medical student, Tom Shaw.

Six years later, with the country at war, the newly graduated duo arrive at the town of East Grinstead to work under the famed plastic surgeon, Archibald McIndoe.

One rainy afternoon, the reality of war hits Ed fully for the first time, and he is catapulted down a path he could never have expected to follow.

Miss Adventures - Nancy Pearce
£7.99

With a thirst for travel and adventure, teamed with the most accident-prone personality you can imagine, Nancy Pearce retells some of her most mortifying stories from around the globe – from ending up completely naked in public (on more than one occasion) to dramatically entangling a train of 16 camels around a road sign whilst working in Australia. Nancy has been brutally honest in Miss Adventures, exposing some of her deepest, darkest, most embarrassing experiences. This book gives you a few laughs (at her expense!). After all, laughter is one of the greatest gift s you can give in life!

The Long White Cloud - Kingsley Poole
£9.99

The year is 1917. Many years have passed since Doctor John Hunston left England to escape the pain of losing his brother in the Boer War. Now there is a new war, one into which Hunston is reluctantly drawn. But before he leaves for Europe as part of the New Zealand Medical Corps, an old family secret is uncovered, resulting in a request he feels duty-bound to honour. In the trenches and carnage of the Western Front, he encounters a place where a promise - though easily made - is hard to keep.

Kingsley Poole was born in 1969, the son of Australian parents, and was educated at Magdalen College School and St John’s College, Oxford. While at Oxford he rowed in ‘The Boat Race’ against Cambridge for three successive years. His rowing career was ended by becoming a doctor and raising a family, and since 2003 he has worked as a GP in West Sussex. The Long White Cloud is his second novel and sequel to his first, The Sudden Metropolis, also available through Brigand.

Poems in the Time of Covid - Theresa Jones
£7.99

Theresa Jones was born in Newry, Co. Down, Northern Ireland. Her career involved the teaching of Religious Studies and English in Birmingham and Solihull schools. In 2006 she was ordained priest in the Anglican Church.

A rich source of inspiration for her poems stems from an interest in World Religions, Classical Studies, Ancient History and Philosophy. These interests led to a PhD, an interdisciplinary study, which focuses on the concepts of the Sublime and the Numinous.

This collection includes poems written during 'lockdown' at the time of the global pandemic 2020-22, atraumatic moment in history.Other poems in the collection span previous years. While some of the poems offer hopeful encouragement others invite reflection on a range of issues which both challenge and disturb.
